SHOWstudio Experience

SHOWstudio Experience
Stary Browar, Poznań, Poland

SHOWstudio Experience was a site-specific installation built as an immersive, walk-in environment dedicated to the moving image. Designed as a black, monolithic structure, the space functioned as a cinematic chamber where visitors stepped directly into the aesthetic world of SHOWstudio — a world defined by experimentation, the body, and the emotional precision of fashion film.

Inside the installation, a curated selection of films examined the male body through choreography, fetish, mythology and performance. Each work offered a distinct perspective shaped by leading directors associated with Nick Knight’s platform:

Boned — directed by Nick Knight
Love Me — directed by Ruth Hogben
Untitled — directed by Natasa Vojnovic and Barnaby Roper
The Red Shoes — directed by Marcus Werner Hed
Guiser — directed by Nick Knight
#AsIf — directed by Nick Knight
Men in Tights — directed by Nick Knight
Venus — directed by Nick Knight
Untitled — directed by Nick Knight
Tessa Kuragi: Reverie — directed by Nick Knight

Together these films created a constellation of bodies and gestures that disrupted conventional representations of masculinity. The installation exposed visitors to movement that was tense, fluid, ritualistic, erotic, restrained or unguarded — revealing the male body not as a stable symbol but as an ever-changing terrain.

The dark architecture and sound design intensified the experience, shifting fashion film from screen-based viewing into a sculptural, spatial encounter. SHOWstudio Experience became a space where the viewer’s body was placed in direct proximity to filmed bodies, amplifying the emotional and sensory charge of the works.
